Pink is always associated with sweet, love and romance. It is also related to feminine and softness. Even though sometimes, this colour is a synonym for immaturity or childishness.
I understand that most people think that pink is a girlish colour. But that is not completely true. At the beginning of the 20 century, shops in the US started to give colour advice to the new parents. In 1918 the trade publication Earnshaw’s Infants’ Department declared that pink is a colour for the boy and blue is a colour for the girl.
Time magazine in edition 1972 noted about this trend as well. The large scale department stores in Boston, Chicago, and New York also have the same advice about this gender suitable colour.
Pink and Feminine
But in the 1940, The Baby boomer in America introduced the opposite colour trend. Pink is a colour for the girl and blue is a colour for the boy. This trend was again not popular between 1960 and 1970 because of the women’s liberation movement. There is an assumption that feminine stereotypes will only give limitations to every girl in the future.
However in 1980, the gender colour trend came back again. The gender colour is important for parents to announce the gender of their baby before the baby is born.
Colour Of Feeling
I think pink is one of the best colours in the world. In colour psychology, pink is a sign of hope and positive feelings. Inspired from warm, comfortable and calmness. Moreover, pink is also the colour of love according to many references. It is because pink is a combination between red and white. And it means pink is mixed from hot passion through red but also innocence and pure through white.
